Wegovy contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics a natural hormone released after eating, which signals fullness to your brain. It reduces appetite and calorie intake, leading to gradual, sustained weight loss alongside a healthy diet and regular movement.
Both contain semaglutide and are FDA-approved for the same purpose. The injection is taken once a week, on the same day each week, with or without food. The oral pill is taken once a day, first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach and at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking. Your provider can recommend the right format based on your profile and preferences, subject to approval.
Many patients begin to notice weight loss within the first 4–8 weeks. Clinical results were measured over 64–72 weeks. Wegovy is part of a long-term treatment program, and the best results come from consistent use alongside positive lifestyle changes and regular provider check-ins.
